Christie’s records $47.32 million worth of sales at Hong Kong

Christie’s jewellery and jadeite were valued at $47.32 million, in Hong Kong on November 28. Around 80% of the offerings were sold by lot and 84% by value. A D-colour lot of 31.92 carat FL diamond briolette pendant held on an emerald and diamond chain sold for $3.2 million or about $100,500 per carat. It was the highest selling lot.

Other pieces which were sold included, a rectangular-cut D colour, IF diamond of 20.22 carats which sold for $2.48 million, or $123,000 per carat. Another three-strand graduated jadeite bead necklace generated $2.72 million.

Vickie Sek, the director of the jewellery and jadeite department at Christie’s Asia said, “With 11 jewels having eclipsed the $1million mark, jewellery continued the trend of a spectacular series of record Asian Contemporary and Chinese Paintings and Works of Art auctions at Christie’s Hong Kong,”
