Christie’s prepares for Hong Kong Spring auction

The auction is expected to garner interest of top collectors of the world

Christie’s is offering over 300 stunning jewels, including the highest quality diamonds, coloured gems, and jadeite at its upcoming Hong Kong Spring auction of Magnificent Jewels on 29 May at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The auction house expects this sale would draw interest from the top collectors of the world.

The top lots to be offered at the sale include a dramatic and one-of-a-kind jewel from renowned contemporary jeweller - JAR. There will also be come rare natural pearls. Amongst the coloured diamonds, will be an extremely rare round Fancy Intense Pink diamond of 12.04 carats by Harry Winston.

a line up of vivid Burmese rubies and sapphires, Colombian emeralds, important jadeite jewellery, rare period pieces, signed contemporary jewels from leading global manufacturers are believed to entice the interest of the buyers. “2011 was a milestone year for Christie¡¦s Jewellery department with global sales of US$600.1 million, up 41% over the previous year. In Hong Kong, we saw over HK$1.34 billion (US$ 172 million) in jewellery change hands, with each of our biannual sales totalling more than HK$600 million (US$80million), ranking Hong Kong alongside New York and Geneva as one of the most important centres in the world for the sale of magnificent jewellery,” says Vickie Sek, Director of the Jewellery and Jadeite Department, Christie’s Asia.
