‘The Clark Pink’ which sold at Christie’s recent New York Magnificent Jewels sale, became the most valuable pink diamond to be sold ever in the US at an auction. Not only did the diamond highlight the sale, but overall, the auction churned revenues worth $70,726,650, with 290 lots selling out of the 304 offered.

The Clark Pink is a cushion-cut fancy vivid purplish-pink diamond ring of 9 carats by Dreicer & Co., circa 1910 from the Estate of Huguette M. Clark. It was bought for $15,762,500 by Brett Stettner of Stettner Investment Diamonds. Rahul Kadakia, the head of jewelry for Christie’s Americas, said, “The collection of jewels from the Estate of Huguette M. Clark sparkled in the saleroom with the $15.7 million Clark Pink becoming the most valuable pink diamond ever sold at auction in America. The entire collection, which has fascinated collectors and press worldwide, achieved a total of $20.8 million against a presale estimate of $9 million. This is the second most valuable private collection sold in the United States in the last decade, just behind the legendary jewels of Elizabeth Taylor.”

Amongst the other top lots sold at the auction were: The Perfect Diamond a rectangular-cut D color IF diamond of 44.09 cts, The Clark Diamond – a rectangular cut D colour potentially IF diamond ring of 19.86 carats by Cartier, a sapphire ring by Van Cleef & Arpels which set the record price for any Cabochon Sapphire, a fancy yellow and fancy light yellow diamond cluster necklace by Graff, a pear shaped D colour potentially IF diamond ring of 16.33 carats by Van Cleef & Arpels, a cushion-cut fancy intense yellow VS1 diamond ring of 43.49 carats by Graff, a five strand natural pearl necklace, an oval-cut F colour IF diamond of 15.08 carats and a rectangular-cut E colour VS1 diamond of 15.58 carats.
