Around 383 lots of jewels by the leading design houses and designers, rare historic rings, diamonds and pearls spanning four centuries are being presented by Christie’s at its forthcoming London sale of Important Jewels on 12 December , 2012.

The leading lots include a mid-19th century diamond tiara and a diamond and pearl necklace, formerly in the collection of The 1st Marchioness Conygnham (1769-1861), the last mistress of George IV (1762-1830). The natural pearls offered are of a wide range of estimates and in varying forms. Leading highlights include a natural pearl necklace with 60 natural pearls, alternately strung with seed pearls suspending a drop pearl, and a pair of art deco natural pearl and diamond ear pendants.

A selection of emeralds includes a dress ring by Bulgari, an emerald and diamond ring by Cartier, an emerald and diamond tiara mounted by Cartier with diamond palm motifs and a detachable chain for it to be worn as a necklace.

The jewels offered in the auction by leading design houses and designers include Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron and Bulgari.
