China Diamond Conference for end-November

In the wake of China's growing enthusiasm to becoming a prominent marketfor diamonds, The 2007 China International Diamond Conference is slated to be held in Shanghai between November 28 to 29. The show is organised by China’s Commerce Ministry and the Shanghai municipal government, with the Diamond Administration of China (DAC) and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) as co-organisers.

The conference would discuss China's new policy in diamonds, latest global trends, business opportunities prevalent in today’s diamond industry and cooperation between world diamond producing countries and China. One such country keen to build trade ties with China’s diamond industry is India. The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) vice chairman Vasant Mehta will make a presentation on the scope of this association amidts around 300 participants including senior government officials and representatives of the world’s prominent diamond centres.

Post the conference, an Indo-China diamond buyer-seller meet will take place between December 3-5 also in Shanghai. The meet is organised by the GJEPC, in association with the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, and would host over 20 Indian diamond manufacturers and exporters and about 300-400 Chinese dealers. The meet would have an evening of Indian cultural events organised by the consulate of India in Shanghai.
