Select timepieces from the Cartier range will bear the Geneva Seal distinction, reports say. One or more of Cartier's movements will carry the seal. The Geneva Seal distinction was created by the Geneva watch-making guild in 1886, representing a mark and protection towards the quality of its products.

To be eligible for this distinction, a watch must meet 12 criteria governing its construction and appearance; have a mechanical movement, which is assembled and adjusted in the Canton of Geneva; and must hold the official designation from the Bureau de Controle Facultatif des Montres de l'Etat de Geneve. The seal is looked upon as the ‘most prestigious official distinction in the world of watch-making.’
