CIBJO approves establishment of Trade Fair Commission

The Board of Directors of CIBJO have unanimously approved the establishment of a Trade Fair Commission, which will carry out the work of liaising with and among various trade shows that serve the international jewelllery industry.

“This is a vitally important body, for trade shows represent a critical platform for members of our industry and to meet and interact with clients and suppliers,” said CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri. “They have a profound influence on how we perform, and how we manage our activities. The Trade Show Commission will establish that dialogue for the benefit of the industry and the shows.”

The Board also appointed Corrado Facco, Executive Director of Fiera di Vicenza as the Chair to the new body, during the recent 2012 CIBJO Congress in Vicenza. Mr. Facco will be responsible to bring representatives of jewellery trade show organisers from around the world to the new body.

Mr. Facco said, “While the various trade shows operate within similar markets, I prefer not see it as competition between our organisations, but rather ‘coopetition.’ There are areas in which we all have common interests, so as to best serve the entire global industry, such as with Corporate Social Responsibility, eco-sustainability, and more. I hope that as many of my colleagues will join this new body.” Mr. Facco is both a marketing and international relations expert, with extensive experience in the organisation and operation of foreign trade. He is also a published author.

The 2012 CIBJO Congress was held between May 17 and 20, and was hosted by the Fiera di Vicenza.
