Botswana’s diamond exports in 2011 rise around 40%

Diamond exports from Botswana contributed to 81 percent of the country’s total exports in the year 2011. At the end of the year, its diamond exports rose around 40 percent to $4.5 billion. December delivered a 2 percent increase in diamond exports (on y-o-y basis) to $159.4 million, but the last quarter of 2011 saw a 33 percent fall in the diamond exports, which valued $632.8 million, reports add.

The diamond exports represent both polished and rough diamond exports.
