The indicative pricing for a number of lots will serve to create context for clients that helps them understand what the current market is.

Leading the sale is an exceptional unheated 8.88ct Kashmir ruby (Lot 456). The oval mixed-cut ruby shows no signs of heat treatment and described as pinkish-red according to the condition report from the GRS. Located in the north west of Indian Continent, Kashmir district has been known as one of the most famous localities for blue sapphire, however rubies from this region are particularly rare. Fine quality Kashmir rubies such as Lot 456 are highly valued in the market, and together with its rarity, this ruby is a notable offering of quality and distinction.

Other significant rubies should also attract plenty of attention. Two of which are of Burmese origin and certified by GRS. The first is an unheated “pigeon’s blood” rubyfrom the Mogok region weighing 5.22cts (Lot 308) and secondly, an attractive 8.29ct heated Burmese ruby (Lot 372). Lot 316 is a 2.99ct heart-shaped ruby of Tanzania origin, with no indications of thermal treatment according to its GRS report. This fine unenhanced natural ruby has been faceted into a heart-shaped showcasing a classic red colour, with excellent clarity and lustre. Lastly, two notable unheated rubies from Mozambique are expected to attract spirited bidding given their quality. A cushion-shaped ruby weighing 5.11cts (Lot 454) with exemplary colour and good clarity, and an oval cut ruby of 4.02cts (Lot 387) with a GRS report describing the colour as vivid red.

The most significant Padparadscha featured in the tender includes a stunning oval shaped Padparadscha sapphire, one of the rarest varieties of sapphires named after the colour of the “lotus blossom,” that features a delicate mixture of pink and orange. Unheated and weighing 23.74 carats, Padparadscha’s availability in large crystals is uncommon, making this piece (Lot 226) exceptional with its perfect mixture of colour and alluring shade of pinkish orange.

A wonderful selection of unheated blue sapphires will also be on offer, including a cushion cut Royal blue sapphire weighing 10.33cts from Madagascar (Lot 30). This cushion cut Royal blue sapphire stands apart not only for its substantial size and clarity, but also for its Royal blue colour. Other unheated blue sapphires include Lot 59, a Burmese oval sapphire weighing 14.33cts and two of which are unheated, of Sri Lankan origin, and certified by GRS (Lots 58 & 61). Amongst blue sapphires, a fine unheated, natural purple-pink sapphire is also a star lot of the sale (Lot 285). It’s large size (12.76cts), attractive shape and sultry purple hue combine to make this a desirable piece.

Precious Paraiba Tourmalines also figure prominently in the tender. Highly prized for its vivid glow, two neon-bright Paraiba Tourmalines of Brazil origin are accompanied by DSEF certification. Firstly, a Paraiba Tourmaline weighing 5.40cts (Lot 230) and a cushion cut Paraiba Tourmaline of 2.43cts (Lot 231), both examples would look sensational mounted as a ring or pendant. Another Paraiba Tourmaline includes a vivid trilliant fancy-brilliant cut of 5.26 carats from Mozambique (Lot 242) with good brilliancy and a precious electric blue colour.

The viewing will be held during Tuesday 25th to Friday 28th February at the Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair in Jupiter Room 14, IMPACT Challenger Center, Bangkok from 09.30 to 17.30 each day.  Due to the tender being held at the fair, a high number of walk-in customers will be expected.  It is therefore highly recommended that you make an appointment to view the goods.
