The Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) believes there will be even more opportunities for the Mumbai diamond community, particularly the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to sell diamonds due to the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council's (GJEPC) specially organised Buyer-Seller meeting taking place at around the same time as the third edition of the Bharat Diamond Week (BDW).
The Bharat Diamond Week takes place at the bourse from October 14 to16, while the GJEPC will be holding its 3rd India Diamond Week Buyer-Seller Meet in Mumbai from October 15-17.
Bharat Diamond Bourse Vice-President Mehul Shah, who heads the Bharat Diamond Week, said: "I compliment GJEPC for organising the buyers sellers meet at the same time. This week of events will create more activity which will be to the benefit of the entire Indian diamond industry. The GJEPC event will help all our diamantaires, and especially the SMEs, who need assistance at this challenging time.
"I am sure that these two special events, taking place at more or less the same time, will create a great deal of excitement and many business opportunities. We are delighted to welcome all GJEPC guests to the Bharat Diamond Bourse. Their entry to Bharat Diamond Week will be smoothly organised."
BDB President Anoop Mehta is also upbeat about the two large events taking place in Mumbai. "The Bharat Diamond Bourse and the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council are the two largest and most important organisations representing our trade in India and promoting it abroad. I am very happy that these two events will be taking place during the same week.
“The Bharat Diamond Week provides members of the BDB with the opportunity to show the world the very large range of diamonds we can supply. We want to connect buyers and suppliers in a comfortable and efficient environment in order to save them time and expense. The Bharat Diamond Week will act as a perfect venue for companies to source their diamond demands," said Mehta.
Diamond Producers Association CEO Jean-Marc Lieberherr has congratulated the BDB for organising the Bharat Diamond Week. “I compliment the BDB team for this initiative. Again, they show leadership in supporting the sector and promoting confidence in the trade. SMEs are the life-blood of this industry. They bring flexibility, expertise, and passion to diamonds, not to mention their financial commitment.

"The Bharat Diamond Week is an important initiative in support of natural diamonds, which will help the whole business move forward.” BDB is putting the final touches to this month's Diamond Week which follows the first two such diamond fairs held last year. There will be delegations of buyers from China, Australia, Nepal, South Korea, USA, Saudi Arabia  nd many other Asian countries, which will greatly increase the number of visitors and buyers taking part, the organizers said.

First-time visitors are entitled to a reimbursement of flight tickets of up to 50,000 rupees (around $700) for purchases of diamonds of more than $100,000. The Bharat Diamond Bourse is also providing selected buyers with complimentary hotel accommodation. The Diamond Week will give priority to visitors who are members of bourses affiliated to
the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), but all members of the diamond trade across the world are welcome to participate. Each Indian company that wins the right to display at the Bharat Diamond Week is entitled to one booth only. Trading of synthetic or lab-grown diamonds is banned in the BDB, so there will not be any such diamonds traded at the BDW.
