Every year BDB celebrates Independence Day with flag hoisting, followed with march past and guard of honor by the department of Security & Fire Safety, and an in-house band of BDB.
This Year was very special with India completing 75 years of Independence. The whole BDB was lit up with LED lighting of Tri-colors of national flag and decorated with Flags and Balloons across the offices and in open areas.
The event started with a Welcome Note from BDB President Anoop Mehta. In his speech, he welcomed all guests for being present on the Proud day of 75 Years of Celebration of India’s Independence. Further, he mentioned that in the last 75 years diamond industry played a vital role when the country needed valuable foreign exchange. He also mentioned that the diamond industry is proud of the contribution done to the country and looking forward to how we can support the country to take it to the next level. He also emphasized that globally we are number one in diamonds and in the next decade we are striving to be number one in jewellery as well.
Frank Geerkens Consulate General of Belgium, thanked BDB for inviting him and he further mentioned that BDB is the heart of the relationship between Belgium and India. He said that the Diamond City of Antwerp which is a major trading place would not have existed without partners like India and especially BDB.
Agus P. Saptono Consulate General of Indonesia, mentioned that trading in goods & precious stones between Indonesia & India have been ongoing for centuries. He added that Indonesia and India are traditional partners and will be modern partners in the future as well.
Zainal Azian Nadzir Consulate General of Malaysia mentioned that this year has also marked as the 65
th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Malaysia and India and he hopes that the two countries continue to have very flourishing bilateral relations.
Amruta Fadnavis said that it’s a day of Honor & Pride for every Indian. She also urged everyone to remember the freedom fighters because of whom we got our valuable freedom.
She said, "Let us sit back and see how far we have come and what is the future journey we have to traverse. With the contribution of Diamond Hearted stalwarts like you all the target of a 5 trillion economy is not far away."
She congratulated each and everyone at the Diamond Bourse who has contributed majorly to the economy and employment and hopes to see much more in the coming days.

Shah further acknowledged the various teams of BDB, House keeping,gardening administrative, Customs and all Executives staff, who are all instrumental in making BDB the finest complex.
