Bharat Diamond Bourse Leaders To Hold Talks In Shanghai Over Chinese Diamond Firms' Participation

Registration numbers already ahead of previous Bharat Diamond Week shows

Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) President Anoop Mehta and Vice-President Mehul Shah will be holding meetings with the leadership of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) and member companies next week as they seek to boost the number of Chinese companies attending the third edition of the Bharat Diamond Week (BDW) which takes place at the bourse from October 14 to16. They will be meeting with SDE President Lin Qiang and his senior management team to discuss participation by SDE members at the polished diamond week.

"We are delighted to have been invited to hold talks with the leaders of one of the most important diamond exchanges in the world and to address companies that are members of the bourse," said Mehta. "Our aim is to increase visitor numbers at each of the Bharat Diamond Week events. With the help of our colleagues at the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, I am sure we will achieve this. China is a hugely important consumer market, and we are very pleased that Chinese diamond and jewellery companies will come and see at the Bharat Diamond Week how Indian diamond firms can fulfil all of their sourcing requirements.

“Our Guest of Honour will be the SDE President Lin Qiang who will lead a delegation of members and will open the fair. We will also be hosting delegations of foreign buyers from Israel, Dubai, Greece, South Africa, Vietnam and Bangladesh as well as across India."

Meanwhile, Shah said that the number of companies and individuals who have registered for the show is already far ahead of those for the two previous shows which were held in 2018. "We are pleased and encouraged to see that the registration numbers are already higher than for the two events last year. This is a highly promising sign and shows that our marketing is working well. Needless to say, we are pushing ahead with further efforts to increase registration."

As with the two previous shows, the BDB will provide selected buyers with complimentary hotel accommodation, with around 150 complementary hotel rooms for foreign buyers. Priority will be given to visitors who are members of bourses affiliated to the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), but all members of the diamond trade across the world are welcome to participate.

Each Indian company that wins the right to display at the Bharat Diamond Week is entitled to one booth. Trading of synthetic or lab-grown diamonds is banned in the BDB, so there will not be any such diamonds traded at the BDW.
