Around 21 potential diamond zones identified in India’s Telangana state

Reports suggest that around 21 new potential diamond zones have been identified by researchers in the Mahbubnagar district of India’s Telangana state. The district is well-known for its large-scale annual migration of labour and is now seemingly home to diamond mines according to the researchers from the Centre of Exploration Geophysics, Osmania University.

The 21 locations have been identified in Mahbubnagar and villages abutting the border with Gulbarga and Raichur.

This is for the very first time that over 21 zones have been identified, reports add. The study notes that kimberlite pipes have been found at 21 places, and though all may not bear diamonds, diamond zones were found in the district. There would be further study on the same, reports add.
