Ankit Gems co-sponsors Chess Tournament in Mumbai

Highlight of the tournament was the launch of chess application known as the ECHESSPEDIA

Ankit Gems along with LIC co-sponsored the '9th Mumbai Mayor's Cup International Open Chess Tournament 2016' held at Mumbai from June 2 to 9.

The tournament was inaugurated by Mumbai Mayor Mrs. Snehalata Ambekar. The tournament was held at Mount Litera School International, BKC, Bandra. The event was organised by Venus Chess Academy and presented by Zee Learn Ltd.

During the inaugural function, a chess application – ECHESSPEDIA – a complete chess encyclopedia was launched. The application is promoted by Willy Iclicki, a player, a member of the FIDE Ethics Committee. Willy Iclicki is a friend of Ankit Gems Chairman Arun Shah for the last 40 years.

Around 900 participants from 13 countries took part in this tournament. It had 15 International Grandmasters and 15 Grandmasters. The total prize money for the tournament was Rs. 27 lakhs. The prizes were handed over by wife of Maharashtra CM, Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis and Deputy Mayor Alka Kerkar.
