Angola outlines priorities on taking Presidency in 2015

Once Angola, current Vice President of the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KP) taken on the head position of the KPCS in 2015, it has outlined its focus on Central Africa Republic (CAR) and Venezuela, reports say. CAR was under temporary suspension from KP in May 2013. Venezuela had unilaterally removed itself from the scheme in 2008 but is working to once again participate in the KP, reports say.

According to reports, the country's KP official, Estanislau Buio noted that other KP Commission priorities for 2015 would be to support Cote d'Ivoire and Guinea to restart their rough diamond exports, implementing previous Plenary declarations on KP internal control mechanisms, and the development of artisanal and low-scale diamond exploration, to assist recently admitted countries and advance dialogue with the KP civil society and participants, reports add.
