A Grand Finale for IIJW

Brand Ambassador Sonam Kapoor closes “Best of the Best” finale with a Boucheron creation
A Grand Finale for IIJW

A glittering backdrop composed of a myriad rows of hanging Swarovski crystals and a black glass ramp formed an ideal setting for the elegant “Best of the Best” Grand Finale of the IIJW. As its name suggests, the finale showed off the scintillating jewellery of the 28 participants featured in the four earlier days of the IIJW in one action-packed show.

The show opened with a Panorama presentation by P.C.Jewellers, the main sponsor. Starting with heavy kundan pieces with rose cut diamonds, the show went on to present diamond and gemstone studded jewellery of both the heavy and casual wear variety. Lara Dutta presented the show stoppers-- two stunning diamond and ruby necklaces. Managing Director of P.C. Jewellers walked the ramp acknowledging the appreciative applause of the audience.

The Best of the Best segment featured the leading designers and design houses of the country. As one stunning piece after the other was displayed, it was evident that the type of jewellery on display at the IIJW spanned a cross section from gold, diamond and gemstone studded, kundan to modern designer pieces.

Though all the jewellery was beautiful, and even impressive, there were few companies/designers who stood out for their creativity. Some striking pieces were presented by Dipti Amisha, Birdhichand Ghanshamdas, YS 18, Gitanjali Group, Jewels Emporium, Surana Gems & Jewellery, Kashi Jewellers and Scintillating Jewellery and Rosily Paul. The creations of Pallavi Dudeja Foley and Alpana Gujral stood out for that extra zing that they carried. And of course Lakshman Pahuja's piece was as usual, unusual to say the least.

But truly the best of the best was saved to the end when GJEPC chairman Rajiv Jain announced a surprise presentation, after having introduced chief guest of the show - Boucheron, represented by Fabrice Martelli. The delightful surprise turned out to be IIJW Brand Ambassador, Sonam Kapoor, walking the ramp wearing a Boucheron creation -- one of its most treasured pieces titled “Queen of the Night”. A fabulous piece in black gold, studded with diamonds, rubies and sapphires. With a 3-D effect, the spray of flowers lovingly drapes the wearer's neck. A fitting end to a stunning show.
