8th SIJS concludes on successful note

The 8th edition of the Singapore International Jewellery Show (SIJS), closed with 26 percent increase (over last year) in total sales valuing S$103.6 million. The event took place at the Marina Bay Sands from 12 - 15 July 2012,

This year, the show’s theme was ‘Glittery inspirations by Culture & Heritage’. A highlight of the event was the showcasing of a rare 99-carat Sapphire, by leading jeweller – DeGem. The gemstone earned much attention and praise at the show for its brilliance and clarity.

Altogether 205 exhibitors from 22 countries participated, with five national pavilions, namely Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Singapore and Sri Lanka, each exhibitor showcasing its version of the theme,

A whopping 21,920 local and international visitors attended culminating SIJS 2012 as the biggest and grandest presentation since its inception. The glitzy presentation netted $25.1m sales on-site and received promising negotiations between clients and companies.

Apart from the showcasing of gemstones, SIJS 2012 offered an interesting line up of talks from industry professionals, live demonstrations on jewellery making and daily fashion shows displaying jewellery from the leading exhibitors. The exhibition also showcased master pieces by famous artist Thomas Diego Armonia, who, illustrated heritage and cultural elements in his new series of artwork.

SIJS has developed from a homegrown name to a reputable label within Singapore’s jewellery marketplace! SIJS 2012 also boasted a higher percentage of renowned jewellery brands from the region and beyond, and this has re-affirmed the international status of the show”, shared Mr. Edward Liu, Managing Director of Conference and Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd.
