78-carat diamond goes missing in Namibia

Namibia Diamond Trading Co., a joint venture between the southwest African nation and De Beers, filed a case with the local police concerning a 78-carat diamond has gone missing in Namibia at the time of a strike, recently, reports say.

The strike occurred when over 1,500 Mineworkers Union of Namibia members called a strike on August 2, protesting and rejecting the government’s offer to increase wages by 10 percent, reports add.

The value of the stone is not yet determined, as it will follow basis the quality and size of the polished diamonds to be cut from it, reports add.
