The 709-carat uncut gem diamond discovered in March and up for sale through bidding on March 11, failed to sell, reports say. Five bids beginning at $2 million were handed in envelopes, with the highest being $7.8 million. The government of Sierra Leone rejected the highest bid, as per reports. The National Minerals Agency noted that the rejection followed the highest price not matching the government reserve price and the government would try to get a higher price at an international auction, as per reports.
