706-carat diamond found in Sierra Leone

A pastor discovered a 706-carat diamond in Sierra Leone in the Kono district, as per reports. Pastor Emmanuel Momoh, who works as freelance artisanal mining has handed the stone to the President Ernest Bai Koroma who is reported to state that the government intends to sell the diamond to the highest bidder, as per reports. The President is reported to have told Pastor Emmanuel Momoh that he would be rewarded with part of the sales proceeds of the stone, reports add. The diamond is close to being one of the largest; and is believed to be among the largest 20 diamonds, and is also believed to be the largest diamond to be found in Sierra Leone since 1972, as per reports.
