40th BGJF promises to enhance B2B interaction

The 40th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF), which is slated for September 18 to 22, has lined up some key attractions for its participants. An e-Appointment facility on OSP (Online Sourcing Project), an on-line business matching facility, is being introduced to facilitate quality B2B meetings. Through this, buyers and BGJF exhibitors (numbering over 1,500) study each others profiles prior to meeting face-to-face at the fair. The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA), appears to favour this unique feature.

Another crowd puller would be the "Hot 2008 Vol. I," which is a display of more than 100 master pieces from Thailand. Also, the Yellow Sapphire Rabbit, crafted in 4 kg of yellow gold, 8,000 carats of yellow sapphire, ruby and jade will be displayed. The piece will be exhibited by the TGJTA, as a symbol of loyalty and love towards His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on his 80th birthday on December 5 2007.

An associated congress at the fair will provide a platform for topical discussion on issue central to the industry's growth. This 40th edition will be spread over 100,000 sqm. and expects 22,000 attendees. Organisers of the show are advising buyers and visitors to pre-register to maximise benefits.
