2011 Presidents' Meeting to be hosted in Dubai

Dubai will host the 2011 Presidents' Meeting of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and as WFDB Avi Paz stated, "As Dubai is a fast growing diamond trading center and distribution hub, holding a WFDB event at the home of the Dubai Diamond Exchange has been long coming," he stated. The event is slated between April 11-14, 2011 at the Jumeirah Meydan Hotel in Dubai.

The event hosts Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) elucidated the significance of Dubai, as both a global diamond centre of today and the venue for the Meeting, in their invitations to the presidents of the WFDB- affiliate diamond bourses. The DMCC's Executive Chairman, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, and Peter Meeus, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) stated; in less than 10 years, Dubai has become one of the leading international diamond centers in the world. "The DDE is an international diamond trading and value-adding platform and Dubai's strategic location continues to provide a crucial gateway between the producing countries, the major production centers and the emerging consuming markets of the region".

Some of the sessions will take place at the Almas Tower, home to the Dubai Diamond Exchange, in addition to more than 300 regional and international diamond and precious gems companies.
