11thPresident of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, visits SRK-Empire

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is a man of great vision, an eminent scientist, engineer and popularly known as Missile Man of India who served as the 11th President of India from the period 2002 to 2007. Dr. Kalam became the guest of the Diamond city - Surat for 2 days and visited Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. One of the leading Diamond Company in the world.

In his interaction with the Leading Personalities of the Diamond Industry assembled at SRK Empire,Dr. Kalam entitled Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK) as “Culture of Excellence;” Dr. Kalam mentioned that any institution is judged by the level and extent of research work it accomplishes which in turn, results in the development of technology. Technology is linked to economy and environment through manufacturing of knowledge products. This in turn promotes prosperity in society.

Dr. Kalam equated knowledge as: Knowledge = Creativity + Purity in heart + Courage and said that “I could see all three attributes in all the business processes of SRK through which I went. I could see creativity in use of technology along with head, courage in ability to take risk and purity in management. And this is what we encourage to other corporate houses”

Talking on Multi-Dimensional Skill Development, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam added that“for the nation today what is needed is a combination of technology and Creative leadership. A developed India – is what most of us need today. To become a Leading Economy in the world, India has to be powered by innovations and consequent economic strength. We will have to work for it. It is only economic strength, which can get to the goal of developed India. Economic strength has to be powered by competitiveness and competitiveness has to be powered by knowledge power, then knowledge power has to be powered by technology and technology has to be powered by innovation and business. Particularly, I am very glad that the SRKhas taken these innovative initiatives to bring out the thoughts and ideas of innovators before the country. I am truly glad by the integration and differentiation that SRK has achieved through use of innovative technologies under creative leadership of Mr.Govind Dholakia”.

Finally Dr. Kalam shared his vision of a “Liveable Planet Earth” as part of his India 2020 development plan and in that line he also appreciated the efforts made by SRK in the implementation of ISO 50001 and recognizes SRK best practices for energy use and conservation, which are fully integrated in SRK system of management.
