Master Jewellers (CMJ), a company based in the United kingdom and also the country's largest jewellery buying group will work closely with CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, on strategies relating to Corporate Social Responsibility throughout the global jewellery industry.

CMJ has over 150 jewellery retailers, representing over 270 shops under its banner. It was established 32 years ago to provide a strong platform from which independent jewellers can trade freely and independently.

CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri opined that CIBJO and CMJ share the same values, ethics and principles. He announced during the CMJ trade event in Birmingham, that he had invited the CMJ Chief Executive Willie Hamilton to join a CIBJO committee. This committee will draft a code of conduct for international jewellery trade events and Mr. Hamilton will work alongside representatives from the leading jewellery trade shows. "We are pleased to report that CIBJO recognises the CMJ as a key driver within the UK jewellery industry," said Mr. Hamilton. He added that "So much of the work, values, principles and ethos of CIBJO reflect those of The CMJ, on a larger, international scale.

Dr. Cavalieri mentioned that a formal process had been implemented to advance the development of Corporate Social Responsibility, led by Mr. Hamilton and CMJ.
