Skinner’s to offer a 10ct emerald-cut diamond ring

The sale features an extensive collection of diamonds, including several examples above four carats. Many impressive examples from the early 19thcentury to the early21stcentury will be represented. The centerpiece of the sale is a10.90 cts Emerald-cut Diamond Ring estimated at$150,000-250, 000,and graded by the GIA as a J color,VS1 clarity. Other large diamonds in the sale include a6.20 cts Pear-shape Diamond Ring estimated at $70,000-90,000and a 4.10 cts Marquise-cut Diamond Ring estimated at $8,000-10,000.A beautiful group of Colombian emeralds are also included in the auction.

The best emeralds in the world traditionally originate from the Colombian mines. The standout is a Tiffany & Company Emerald and Diamond Ring, estimated at $25,000-35,000.Also represented is aTrabert &Hoeffel- Mauboussin Emerald and Diamond Ring, estimated at $40,000-60,000and a Cartier Emerald and Diamond Ring, estimated at $8000-10000.In addition to rare emeralds, the auction also includes a sought after Sapphire and Diamond Ring, estimated at $20,000-30,000from the long extinct Kashmir mines.

The sale will also include many pieces of antique and period jewelry. A Castellani Micromosaic Necklace estimated at $20,000-30,000leads the antique jewelry section. The most famous Roman jeweler of the 19thcentury, Castellani became the first goldsmith to create jewelry following the classical Italian and Greek prototypes, thus creating a new fashion craze among his wealthy clients.
