Sarin Technologies Ltd is moving a step further in its innovative solutions for the diamond industry, as it is launching its Diamond Assay Service (DAS). This service is an online subscription service meant for diamond wholesalers, jewellery retailers, appraisers and others who buy, sell or appraise polished diamonds. Its functions will include verifying the diamond’s authenticity, ascertaining its geometric parameters and Cut grade, issuing printed reports relating to same and proposing possible solutions for re-cutting and re-polishing so as to derive greater potential value, all in a matter of minutes.

Subscribers to Sarin’s DAS service will require Sarin’s DiaScanTM S+ which plugs into any USB port of any computer. With the help of the DiaScanTM S+ unit, the subscriber can scan the diamond after logging into the DAS, and get a comprehensive analysis of the stone's unique characteristics on the screen. The DAS will optionally use any of multiple grading systems, such as those published by the, American Gem Society (AGS), Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Antwerp’s HRD diamond lab, and others to assess and grade the diamond, its properties and the potential value of the diamond, if re-cut to a higher grade, as per these standards.

The DAS service is attached with a monthly fees based on the scope of use, with additional one-time charges for specific premium services (e.g., printed reports, re-cut plans for optimal valuations, etc.).

Sarin has signed an initial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the AGS to jointly promote the DAS to AGS members, whereby utilising the DAS will enable an AGS member access to the AGS’s Performance Grading Software (PGS) at a special reduced price. Uzi Levami, Chief Executive Officer of Sarin commented, “We are proud to launch this service in cooperation with the AGS as our lead sponsor, as this will expose the service to their members, who are among the leading retailers in the United States. In an industry in which billions of dollars worth of polished diamonds are bought back from consumers wishing to upgrade their jewellery (so called “recycled” diamonds were estimated at six billion dollars in the US alone in 2010), we expect this service to be of significant importance to the retail trade in the US and elsewhere.”
