Leading Indian diamond manufacturing company Dharmanandan Diamonds Pvt Ltd. in association with Gujarat Kala Pratishthan organised an Art Event with a cause - ‘Mega Art Event’ 2011 in Surat, the diamond cutting and polishing hub of India. The theme of the event was “Diamond – A Symbol of Love”, and invited artists across the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat to render their interpretations of the theme.

The event served as a platform for promoting the artist’s talent, an opportunity for Surat to extend its generic support to the Indian diamond industry and also to help generate funds through auctions of the paintings in Surat and Maharashtra which will be donated to NGOs that support education and health needs of diamond workers and their families.

The event, held on April 8, 2011 was inaugurated by Surat’s well known theater personality - Mr. Yajdi Karanjiya amidst some 1500 art enthusiasts in audience and over 250 artists submitting entries. All participants were awarded with complimentary prizes.
