Sotheby’s Australia to offer spectacular diamonds at Important Jewels’ sale

Sotheby’s Australia is placing 247 lots on auction for its August sale of Important Jewels. The lots stand distinguished for they are a variety of jewels from vintage to contemporary, with a selection of designer and iconic pieces from Buccellati, Cartier, Paspaley, and Tiffany & Co. The lots have an estimate sale range of $2.1 to $2.9 million.

The Important Jewels auction is slated at the InterContinental Sydney on August 31, 2015.

Geoffrey Smith, Chairman of Sotheby’s Australia commented; ‘The carefully curated sale includes highly individual jewels from the world’s leading designers and provides a unique opportunity for collectors to experience and appreciate a broad spectrum of jewels and quality gemstones.’

Diamonds make interesting highlights to the sale. Some of the diamonds on offer include - a natural fancy yellow round brilliant-cut diamond weighing 10.94 carats is claw set in a 14ct gold ring carries an estimate of $220,000-280,000. A natural fancy vivid yellow diamond and diamond ring by Tiffany & Co. carries an estimate of $50,000-70,000. Among a selection of white diamonds is a platinum and diamond ring with an emerald-cut diamond weighing 2.40 carats between a pair of similarly-cut diamonds weighing 2.04 and 2.02 carats. Claw-set in 18ct white gold is a 4.74 carat round brilliant-cut diamond. A pair of 18ct gold and diamonds pendant earrings by Mario Buccelati each lozenge-shape pierced and embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds resembles the fine fabric of lace.

Other highlights in the categories include - Tiffany & Co.’s Art Deco diamond necklace/pendant/brooch with a total diamond weight of 14.30 carats and designed as an articulated tassel (estimate $230,000-250,000).

The Belle Époque is brought alive through a selection of watches which transition through to the Art Deco from a private collector and includes an 18ct gold seed pearl enamel and diamond-set open faced keyless pendant watch made for Tiffany & Co. by the Longines Watch Company in circa 1910.

In the vein of floral motifs and naturalia is a platinum brooch set with emeralds and diamonds by Van Cleef & Arpels. A pair of emerald and diamond ‘Camillia’ earrings is also on offer at the auction.
