31st June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair

The June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is one of the most soughtafter sourcing platforms for gems and jewellery industry. This year, too, the show didn’t disappoint its exhibitors, especially the ones who were equipped to handle the varied demands of the buyers

The 31st edition of the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, one of the most important mid-year fine jewellery events, witnessed 9.7 per cent rise in visitor turnout this year. The show was held from June 21 to 24 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). A total of 1,998 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions participated in the 31st edition. The show occupied more than 65,000 sq mtrs of exhibition space and was thoughtfully divided into 17 theme pavilions and 18 group pavilions led by countries, regions and trade associations.

The 4-day show had a total of 28,131 unique visitors, mentioned the organizer statement. These buyers, representing 91 countries and regions, made a total of 50,786 visits to the fair, up 12.2 per cent over last year’s show. Of the 28,131 show attendees, 18,589 visitors were from overseas, an increase of 14.7 percent compared with yearago numbers. This underscores the global reach and international buyer base of the June Fair, according to Wolfram Diener, Senior Vice President of UBM Asia.

In terms of visiting countries and regions outside of Hong Kong, China was at the top with 12,144 buyers followed by India with 967 buyers and the Philippines with 903 buyers. While there were 784 buyers from Taiwan, 452 buyers were from Japan. Philippines, China and India recorded the highest increase in terms of buyer turnout at 35.79 per cent, 20.17 per cent and 9.64 per cent, respectively.
