DPA Promotions to Keep Diamond Dream Alive
India reportedly accounts for a mere 7 per cent of the global diamond consumption and this provides a huge growth opportunity in the global consumer matrix. Considering potential of Indian market for the future growth of diamonds, the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) launched its operations in India.

The DPA intends to develop diamonds not just as a physical asset but as a brand. Though there have been various promotions around diamond jewellery, these promotions/marketing campaigns are merely focused on an individual company/brand rather than diamond as a ‘category’. Thus, diamond is losing it’s connect with the consumers.

There is an ardent need to develop a powerful, emotionally and culturally resonant promise for diamonds in the Indian market. It needs to be reminded to the consumer that diamonds are crucial for celebration of love, commitment and achievements. Diamonds need to go beyond engagements and marriages and need to connect with consumers more on an emotional level. The DPA is focusing on all these areas with its promotions in India.

Greater transparency combined with subtle generic marketing can keep the diamond dream alive.
