World’s priciest diamond necklace to go on public display

The most valuable polished diamond necklace in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, will soon go on public display in the Far East for the first time. The Incomparable, which is valued at US $55 million and contains the world's largest internally flawless diamond graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), will be featured from October 11 to 15 at the Singapore Jewel fest.

The center piece gem of the Incomparable weighed nearly 900 carats in its raw state. Naturally, cutting the diamond down reduced its weight by half, but it still weighs over 400 carats, a gargantuan mass by any measure. The gem is a fancy deep brownish yellow stone. The center piece stone is mounted by a 18 k gold necklace created by jewelry designers Mouawad. It is also complimented by 35 white round diamonds, 27 pear-shaped diamonds, nine white heart-shaped diamonds, five white emerald-cut diamonds, five white cushion-cut diamonds, four white oval diamonds, three white asscher-cut diamonds and two white radiant diamonds, bringing the total weight of the piece to 637 carats.
