VBJ Sets Up Screening Device to Test Authenticity of Set Diamond Jewellery

Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, a Chennai based heirloom brand held an event for the benefit of jewellery connoisseurs, by setting up the industry’s first synthetic diamond screening device for set jewellery, for the first time in India!

Using SYNTHdetect - a highly sophisticated machine supported by the technology from the International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research(IIDGR, a subsidiary of DeBeers Group), the machine is capable of differentiating natural diamonds from synthetic lab-grown diamonds.

With the aim to educate the public and demonstrate their fervent commitment to customers, SYNTHdetect was set up at a strategic point so that anyone who visits the showroom may test & validate their diamond jewellery, as a complimentary gesture from VBJ.

Using the principle of time-resolved photoluminescence, an image is viewed on a high-resolution touch screen to validate whether the diamond is natural or synthetic. SYNTHdetect significantly reduces the need for additional off-site testing, making it the ideal way to verify the legitimacy and trustworthiness of the diamond jewellery.
