U.S. polished diamond imports rise 83% in June

The U.S. polished diamond trade showed improvement on y-o-y basis, as polished exports rose 69 percent to $1.6 billion in June 2010, and polished imports by 83 percent to $1.8 billion. In the said month, net polished imports valued $168 million, from $16 million in June 2009.

Exports of rough diamonds dipped 35 percent to $28 million and imports by 8 percent to $44 million. In the month, net rough imports valued $16 million from $5 million in June 2009. The country’s net diamond account valued $184 million from $21 million in the same month last year.
