Two Israeli companies receive IDI Excellence Awards

At the gala evening concluding the CIBJO - World Jewelry Confederation Congress in Tel Aviv, Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) presented Avraham Dayagi Diamonds and Mordechai Turgeman Diamonds, two local diamond companies, with the IDI Excellence Awards, as ones who highlight Israeli Diamond Industry’s creativity and innovation.

IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said, “The Israeli Diamond Industry prides itself on combining precision with creativity and inspiration. The willingness to experiment and innovate has resulted in exciting new diamond shapes. IDI pays tribute to the diamond manufacturers and designers who have made these fresh approaches possible.”

The awards were presented by Israel Diamond Exchange President Yair Sahar, Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association Avraham “Bumi” Traub, IDI Chairman Moti Ganz and CIBJO President Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri.

Avraham Dayagi Diamonds received the first award for “The Dove of Peace”, a diamond jewelry design by Gad Ben-Naim, with a special connection to Israel. The creation is a dove shaped diamond of 1.22 carats, surrounded by 65 round diamonds weighing 0.34 carats, set in pink gold with a white gold chain. Avraham Dayagi Diamonds, a third generation company, founded in1942 by Bezalel Dayagi, specializes in manufacture of hard to fine shapes and matching pairs from 1 to 10 carats. Designer Gad Ben-Naim, specializes in 3-dimensional design, and works closely with Dayagi Diamonds in designing special shape diamonds and jewelry.

Mordechai Turgeman was presented the second award for the most exceptional diamond cut. Turgeman’s is renowned for unique diamond polishing techniques that produce any shape within a diamond, be it stars, flowers, suns and other shapes, and can be clearly viewed from the table. Mordechai Turgeman holds over 40 years of experience, and has been a master diamond cutter, designed proprietary tools and unique polishing techniques that combine striking personality with maximum shine and sparkle.
