Twenty-two diamond traders have been duped in Varachha, Surat, by three diamond traders, reports say. The police has booked the three diamond traders of cheating the 22 traders of rough diamonds worth Rs 1.51 crore or 3,758 carats of rough diamonds.

According to the police, the three diamond traders had been trading in rough diamonds in Mini Bazaar. To build the confidence of the sellers, they began buying small quantities of diamonds and making payments until early 2014. Thereafter, they purchased 3,758 carats of rough diamonds between June to September 2014 without making any payments.

The three alleged traders were booked by the police after the police received a complaint against them from one of the 22 diamond traders. The police have registered a complaint of cheating and. The police also note that the accused are still not caught and investigations are underway.
