Tom Andruskevich resigns as President and CEO of Birks & Mayors

With a tenure spanning over 15 years, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer at Birks & Mayors Inc., Tom Andruskevich has put in his resignation explaining that he would like to pursue ‘Board positions and advisory roles for luxury brands and other high-end companies’. He believes that as the company has achieved stability and growth, ‘it is a good time to transition to new leadership’. The company is searching for a suitor to the position. Andruskevich, would retire in spring of 2012 after a suitor is appointed.

The contributions towards growth that Andruskevich has achieved for the company, including acquiring Mayors in 2002 and Brinkhaus in 2007, successfully integrating these companies with Birks, repositioning Birks as the premier luxury jewelry brand in Canada and rebranding Mayors as the premier luxury retail jeweler in the Southeastern U.S. have earned him credibility for his expertise towards development and expansion, stabilizing and repositioning. He has also been responsible for improved financial conditions of the company post recession of 2008 and 2009.

Andruskevich will continue as Vice-Chairman of the Board after the transition is complete and to serve on the Board's Executive Committee, upon the Board’s request.
