Tiffany files suit against Costco Wholesale Corporation

Tiffany & Co. has filed a suit against Costco Wholesale Corporation, alleging that the company has falsely used its trademark on its rings, reports say. Tiffany states that the company has done so by selling engagement rings marked incorrectly as “Tiffany”.

The case is filed in the federal court. Tiffany notes that none of the rings had any resemblance to being associated as a Tiffany ring, nor were they manufactured by, licensed by, or otherwise associated with Tiffany. Also, the Costco had be alleged that it probable must be selling various styles of rings over many years under the false identity of ‘Tiffany’ at its store signages. Also, according to the case filed, Tiffany has never sold “its fine jewelry through an off-price warehouse retailer like Costco, either directly or indirectly.”
