Thrilling Third Day at IIJW

The third day at India International Jewellery Week saw more than just style and glamour. It reinstated the fact that young designers and students of coveted gemological institutes are ready to take the design industry reigns in their hands to ensure the prominent mark of India on a global scale stays on. The day started with an extravagant show of National Institute of Design in association with Sun Jewels. Sun Jewels in the forefront of innovation presented collections by nine National Institute of Design graduates. It was a breath-taking line of innovative jewellery that had unique creative touches. Five collections comprising five entries each kept the audience enthralled with the high level of out-of-the-box thinking.

The ramp was then taken over by the dazzling beauty of Pallavi Foley’s creations who in association with Abharan Jewellers presented an exquisite collection called Shezmin. The inspiration of the collection was the fragrant white jasmine buds, which have been favourites of Indian women from times immemorial.

Alia Bhatt, opened the show wearing striking hoops with pearl insets.

The third show of the day was by Golecha Jewels. Christened ‘Royal Indian Brides’ the collection was a visual treat featuring the most exquisite rose cut diamonds, uncut diamonds, pearls, rubies and emeralds. The showstoppers of the show were Bollywood personalities -- super star Shabana Azmi and award winning scriptwriter and lyricist, Javed Akhtar; who walked the ramp wearing the fabulous jewellery. Shabana wore a mesmerising emerald edged polki necklace, while Javed sported a ruby emerald and pearl brooch.

Dipti Amisha brand presented the magnificent fourth show. Their ‘A Treasure Beyond Measure’ collection called ‘Khajana’ hit all the right notes. Sparkling gems twinkled under the arc lights, while jadau, gold beads and vilandis were merged skilfully into a single piece of jewellery. The showstopper was Aditi Rao Hydari who adorned a magnificent Raani Haar, necklace-cum-choker that flowed from neck to the waist along with shoulder dusters, an ornate finger cover and cluster of bangles.

It was then time for yet another world-class institute that has chiseled brilliant talent through the years. International Gemological Institute (IGI) presented three of their aluminis who are now renowned entrepreneurs in the industry. The show took off with Sagar Parikh of Sagar Samir International who presented a dazzling diamond collection. Next was Shailesh Rathod of K P Sanghvi, who presented an urnab bride collection, christened as ‘Rivaaz’, which was inspired by colours and shapes. The IGI show concluded with the Savannah Collection designed by Mahendra Hitalia, which displayed a splendid use of coloured diamonds.

The next show was awaited by one and all, as it was time for the Bollywood diva, Sushmita Sen to make her presence. Charu Jewels presented an enthralling collection with use of diamonds, emeralds and rubies. Nikhil Desai, Managing Director, Charu Jewels walked the ramp with beautiful Sushmita Sen.

The second last show of the day was once again by Gemological Institute of America (GIA) whose yet another batch of students presented a show that made the industry honchos proud.

The last show of the third day was by Shringar-House of Mangalsutra that concluded an eventful day with a bang.
