Swiss watch exports flat in August

In August, the exports of Swiss Watches stood flat at $1.632 billion on y-o-y basis, reports say. The low performance was attributed to the drop in exports to China. The wristwatch segment exports were flat at $1.536 billion while its volume rose only by 1 percent to 2.2 million.

Other products exports’ rose 9 percent to $96 million.

The exports to Hong Kong dropped 3.2 percent to $329.2 million, to China it dropped 4.7 percent to $122.4 million and to the U.S. it slipped 1 percent to $154.5 million.

The segment of watches valued less than $220 saw a 15 percent rise in volume of exports, and those priced over $ 3,295 rose by 1 percent, reports say.‎
