Sotheby’s jewels fetch $18.4 million in New York

Sotheby’s again achieved a milestone when its sale of important jewels in New York between September 24 and 25, 2015 fetched a whopping sum of $ 18.4 million. One of the many highlights from the estate of the Estate of Dolores Sherwood Bosshard which were part of the sale, included a sapphire and diamond stylised brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, 1937, which sold for $162.500. An emerald-cut F colour 30.15 carat diamond, also part of the Estate, sold for $2.590.000 and also as top lot of the auction. The jewels from the Bosshard Estate garnered revenues worth  $2.3 million, almost double the presale estimate.  A 18 carat gold, platinum yellow sapphire amethyst and diamond ‘Licorne’ Brooch, Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. circa 1955 sold for $62.500. A pair of platinum diamond earclips – the tops by Harry Winston circa 1960 sold for $418.000.
