PANGEMTECH students visit Jaipur’s coloured gemstone industry

Students of Panjikar Gem Research & Tech Institute (PANGEMTECH), an institute of gemological education in Pune, visited Jaipur on a study tour to gain insights in the field in the midst of the main hub of the coloured gemstone industry.

The study tour was held this month. Students panned through the traditional format of gem stone cutting and faceting at Nahargad, the modern state-of-the-art units at Sitapura Complex, the IIGJ and aspects of jewellery designing there including lost wax casting, manual jewellery making, gemstone treatments etc. Students also gained insights on kundan, meenakari and filigree jewellery, gaining a hands on experience on every facet of the coloured stone industry.

The visit also brought them to meet prominent personalities of the industry, including Mr. Rajiv Jain, Chairman of GJEPC and CMD Sambhav Gems Ltd. , Mr. Vivek Kala President of Jaipur Jewellers’ Association and CMD of KalajeeJewellery, Mr. Manoj Dhandia of Dhandia Gems Corporation to name a few.

PANGEMTECH is the brain child of Dr. Jayshree Panjikar, Member Board of Studies Mumbai University and Gemstone and Diamond Panel Bureau of Indian Standards. It is created as a new age institution , based on the principle of one to one interaction between student and the guide, inculcating professionalism in the youth, while enhancing their skills at new innovative careers in the Gem Industry with the state-of-the art knowledge.
