Online Sourcing Project to make waves at BGJF

One of the new experiences to be witnessed at the 42nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, organised by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Association (TGJTA), is the Online Sourcing Project (OSP) service developed by the TGJTA. The OSP is an interactive internet-based service designed to strengthen Bangkok’s image as the world hub for gemstone and gemstone jewellery. Foreign buyers can source Thai gems and jewellery in the most effective and convenient manner through the OSP. The service is not restricted to be applied only for the show, but would benefit any international buyer to trade with the Bangkok gem industry, throughout the year, beyond just the trade show.

"It was developed as part of our programme to make Bangkok Asia's undisputed trading hub for gems and jewellery. It can be used at any time, all year round," said Vichai Assarasakorn, the TGJTA's president. The service delivers private buyers meetings, selective email info-blasting by subscription and a regular OSP news service. "The massive size and varied supply of Thai industry is one of our greatest strengths, but it can be overwhelming for visitors. OSP is designed to simplify their job, by enabling them to search for and pinpoint the exact gem and jewellery products that they are interested in sourcing," said Somchai Phornchindarak, CEO of TGJTA's Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair. For visitors to the fair, the information derived through the service can enable visitors select the products they wish to see at the show, contact relevant companies in advance and set up meetings. The 42nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is scheduled between September 11-15, 2008.
