A showcase of iconic pink and blue diamond jewellery pieces and limited edition collections of exquisite jewellery is set to unfold in New York, with the value of the showcase being US$20 million. The display is inspired by Rio Tinto’s 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender collection.

Argyle Pink Diamonds Authorised Partner Jordan Fine, whose New York based boutique diamond company JFine specialises in rare fancy colour diamonds, has been at the vanguard of developing limited edition Argyle pink diamond jewellery collections, ideally suited to the US market.

Included in the US$20 million jewellery collections will be the unveiling of a US$1 million statement ring, The Divine Lotus featuring a 1.45 carat pink diamond from the 2015 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender. Jordan Fine said “we have taken inspiration from the most celebrated of colour diamonds, Argyle pink diamonds from Australia and worked closely with an exclusive network of nine luxury Argyle Pink Diamond’s Select Ateliers ™ in the US.”

The 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, named the “Chroma Collection” because of its unprecedented spectrum of colour including rare pink, red and violet diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine, is in New York as part of its global showcase. The Tender comprises 57 pink diamonds, two violet diamonds and four red diamonds and weighs a total of 58.24 carats, including The Argyle Violet the largest violet diamond unearthed from the Argyle mine. Five “hero” diamonds in the collection have been selected for their unique beauty and named to ensure there is a permanent record of their contribution to the history of the world’s most important diamonds. These include the Argyle Violet™ - a 2.83 carat Fancy Deep Grayish Bluish Violet oval; Argyle Ultra™ -a 1.11 carat Fancy Dark Gray-Violet pear; Argyle Viva™ -a 1.21 carat Fancy Vivid Purple-Pink pear; Argyle Thea™ -a 2.24 carat Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink radiant and the Argyle Aria™ - a 1.09 carat Fancy Red oval.

The US market is very important to Rio Tinto’s Argyle Pink Diamonds business, both in terms of the collector market for rare fancy colour diamonds and for fine jewellery collections for the world’s largest retail diamond jewellery market.

Argyle Pink Diamonds manager Josephine Johnson said “New York is the epicentre of rare and collectible diamonds and the incomparability of this year’s Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender offering is driving strong interest.”

Following its exclusive preview in Copenhagen, the 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender is being showcased during invitation-only viewings in Hong Kong, New York, London and Perth and bids will close on 12 October 2016.
