Lucara earns revenues worth US $68.71 million at Exceptional Stone Tender

Diamond producer Lucara Diamond Corp. announced the results from its first Exceptional Stone Tender of 2015. It was a special tender of Karowe diamonds including 14 single stone lots totaling 1,674 carats and all of which went down the hammer. The tender was completed on July 16, 2015 with revenues worth US $68.71 million (US $41,028 per carat).

The tender included 12 diamonds selling for over US $1.0 million each including 5 stones which sold for in excess of US $4.0 million each. The 341.9 carat Type IIa diamond sold for US $20.55 million (US $60,114/carat). A diamond of 269.7 carats sold for US $16.54 million (US $61,304/carat).

William Lamb, President and CEO, commented, "This is another amazing result, demonstrating not just the sustainable quality of the diamonds being produced but also the robustness of the exceptional stone market. The sales values achieved for the two large stones demonstrates the quality of diamonds which the south lobe is producing. Lucara Diamond Corp. has 100 percent ownership of the Karowe Mine in Botswana. The company also holds a 75 percent interest in the Mothae Project in Lesotho which has completed a trial mining program.
