Lucapa Diamond achieves record production in March quarter

Lucapa Diamond Company noted achieving record production results in the March 2017 quarter at the Lulo mine in Angola, as per reports. There was a 91 percent increase in the plant throughput volume which was 70,967 bulk cubic metres. The result, significantly came about in the Angolan wet season, the company noted. Diamond volume recovered stood at 4,098 carats, a rise of 31 percent, with number of special diamonds produced (over 10.8 carats) rising 58 percent to 38, reports add. A 227-carat D colour Type IIa gem; other diamonds of 92 carats, 65 carats, 62 carats, and 27 carats were among the special diamonds recovered.

According to the company, the record results were attributable to its exploring new areas.

Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo, which has Lucapa as a 40 percent stakeholder, had 2,545 carats as unsold inventory, as at March 31, 2017, reports add.
