Japan’s polished diamond imports rise marginally in August

Japan imported $46 million worth of polished diamonds in August 2010, indicating a very marginal increase in value terms over August 2009. The volume of the said imports decreased from 177,232 carats (y-o-y) to 175,669 carats in August this year.

Although, the month saw imports from India rising 17 percent to $26.5 million.

Japan’s gold jewellery imports valued $54 million, rising by around 7 percent, this August, reports say.
