JAS-11 begins on the theme of 'Royal Reflections'

Around 125 companies are exhibiting in the gemstone display area.

The fifth edition of the ‘JAS-11’, the gem and jewellery show organised by Jewelers Association, Jaipur, opened on 22 July 2011, in true Jaipur style of colour and hospitality, and reflected the growth of its gem and jewellery industry. The Indian city of Jaipur, is home to a growing gemstone industry, which draws attention from the global gem and jewellery. At the opening ceremony, Shanti Dhariwal, Minister UDH & Home, commended this growth and assured that the proposed Gem Bourse would likely commence by end 2011. Also present at the ceremony were: Member of Parliament Mahesh Joshi , Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council President Rajiv Jain, jewellers, jewellery promoters, foreign and local traders and eminent businessman.

'JAS-2011', themed as 'Royal Reflections', conveys the association of royalty, Jaipur and its gems & jewellery industry. It is hosting 125 exhibiting companies in the Gemstone Display area. The four day event will conclude on July 25. Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal appreciated the role of JAS in promoting Gems & Jewellery trade in Jaipur. Mr. Rajiv Jain elaborated the significant boost lent by India’s gem and jewellery industry to India’s overall exports ($ 43 Billion this year), a growth of 42 percent over last year. Also, the coloured stone segment has increased 21 percent, while silver jewellery by 90 percent. This growth is supported with platforms like JAS which have contributed a growth of 20-25 percent for the exhibitors, according to the organizers. To support this growth, it was also suggested to improve the city’s international air connectivity.

The opening day saw the launch of Jewelers Association’s official journal GEM WORLD, the ‘Show Guide JAS-11’ and announcement of winners of IDEA sponsored All India JAS Jewellery Design Competition organized to promote Jaipur's trademark Kundan-Meena, Contemporary & Stone Jewellery.

JAS-2011 will offer an opportunity to source the best in design, craftsmanship in Gold, Diamond, Platinum, Silver, Kundan-Meena, Coloured Stone Jewellery, Contemporary & Fusion Jewellery, Designer & Fashion Jewellery, Thewa - Sozo Jewellery & Handicraft Jewellery, coloured stones, certified diamonds, precious & semi precious loose stones of a wide variety. Exhibitors of jewellery accessories, technology providers, packing and display vendors, machinery and tools suppliers, trade media would be part of the event.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has associated with JAS-11 as the knowledge supporter, and will conduct seminars and workshops based on subjects like - 'challenge in grading colour and identifying diamond look alike', 'Looking beyond 4 C's in diamond, coloured stone and pearl' etc for the audience. Organisers have tightened security arrangements at the JAS-11, apart from providing facilities - first aid kits, ambulance, fire fighting systems for ease of visitors. Raffles are being drawn on 'JAS-2011' tickets, with the prize of jewellery worth of Rs. 50,000/-. The award was sponsored by Kishan Agarwal.
