Israel diamond industry to organise massive participation at June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair

Israel’s diamond industry is preparing for a massive participation at the forthcoming June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) will host a pavilion where 68 diamond companies will feature, over 1,200 square meters, up from 1,040 square meters last year. There will also be more than 30 Israeli diamond companies exhibiting throughout the show. This will be the largest diamond pavilion IDI has ever had at the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.

The larger pavilion will offer expanded space for all exhibitors and a central lounge for buyers and Israeli exhibitors. Buyers will be able to search IDI’s “Find Your Diamond’ system, a database of all Israeli exhibitors’ offerings at the show.

This year the Israeli Pavilion will have 11 new companies, while 13 Israeli companies remained on the waiting list. Asia is Israel’s second largest market for polished diamonds representing about 35 percent of total polished diamond exports, with the greatest share going to Hong Kong. IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said,“Based on our experience at the Hong Kong show in March, we look forward to a great deal of interest and brisk business at this show,” he said.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said, “IDI organizes large national diamond pavilions at three trade shows in Hong Kong every year -- in March, June and September. We have invested great efforts at making Israeli diamantaires accessible to buyers." He also noted that IDI’s office in Hong Kong and the IDI Chinese language diamond portal site have been successful instruments to further business in this market.

The event is slated from June 19 – 22, 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. It is expected to attract over 450 diamond companies representing Antwerp, Israel, India, Thailand, the U.S. and individual exhibitors.
