India Bullion & Jewelers Association calls for ‘strike’ on March 10

India Bullion and Jewelers Association Ltd (formerly Bombay Bullion Association) has called for a nationwide strike on ‎March 10, 2014 in order to protest against ‘harassment’ of bullion dealers and jewellers by ‎Government agencies on import of gold.

‎Many policies have upset the exporters which has impacted ‎the overall moral of gems and jewelry business. Hence, the traders will ‎observe a 'bandh on March 10 in order to protest against harassment of bullion ‎dealers and jewellers

According to the association, the Government's gold control rule has resulted in the Indian gems and jewellery ‎industry facing the worst-ever crisis. Mohit Kamboj, President of the association, said jewellers were being unfairly targeted and harassed, adding that many ‎cases of harassment have been reported from customs at the airport and jewellers' ‎establishments.
