IIJS Signature places India on a promising platform

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) initiated - IIJS Signature, Goa was a brand ‘India’ building exercise held in Goa from 29th February – 3rd March 2008. Its second day hosted buyers and foreign delegates across th globe. The IIJS-Signature 2008 is the strategy applied by GJEPC to position the Indian gem and jewellery industry internationally as the ‘preferred source of quality gems & jewellery’.

The council has ensured that signature will act as a platform to forge strong business relationship between exhibitors and the buyers. The emphasis of the show is on design and innovation in products ranging from plain gold jewellery, studded jewellery, platinum and silver jewellery.

The IIJS Signature invited around 350 individual buyers, delegates and top 150 retailers from India. The inetrnational buyers include those from Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Turkey, Australia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, USA, UK, Thailand and trade delegations from Uzbekistan, Italy, Hungary, UAE, Poland, Russia, Iran, Japan, Israel, Pakistan & others.

Mr. Navin Jashnani, Convenor IIJS Sub Committee said, “The IIJS Signature is going to send a loud message to the gem & jewellery fraternity across the world that India has moved from being recognized merely for its labor intensive skills, to excellence in design and craftsmanship. The show provides India a platform to showcase our intrinsic talent in gem & jewellery design and manufacture.” The event had an informal B2B environment for the buyers and exhibitors to unwind and inetract.
